The Magic Of Blockprinting

After a severe Monsoon season, the day of printing finally arrives.

The rains have been particularly harsh, and Kishan, Ajay and Naveen have had many weeks wait until they can safely begin their craft.

Patiently waiting, the rewards will soon be evident – the stunning fabric for the ‘Meadow’ dress.

First the pigments are skillfully mixed

Then using hand carved wooden blocks, the printing begins

All three blocks become part of a puzzle, only solved when the third and final block finishes making it's mark !

The fabric is hung out to dry in the warm Indian Sunshine !
